Playwright’s PlayNights at Bold Theatre

Synergy partners with BOLD Theatre for new play readings by writers with lived experience of the criminal justice system.

We’re presenting two new script-in-hand rehearsed readings taking place at BOLD Theatre on Tues 2 June.

As part of BOLD Theatre’s Playwright’s PlayNights series, the evening will feature a full-length play reading of You’ll Never Survive the Revolution alongside a short play, Time. Together, the works offer striking, original perspectives shaped by lived experience.

This marks an important opportunity for both writers to share their work with a live audience for the first time.

7pm – Time by Alberto Lallo
A mysterious fortune teller unlocks the secrets of the past as a family discovers its final reckoning in Milan.

Lallo, based in Italy, is presenting his debut play, which won a Koestler Arts Silver Award in 2025.

7.45pm – You’ll Never Survive the Revolution by Elvis Perez
Have you ever heard about the Great Cat Massacre? Probably not. But could an archaic and barbaric ritual of Revolutionary France be about to resurface in 21st-century London? One resident of gentrified Hackney – and his trusty dog – are about to find out.

Perez is a London-based writer and filmmaker.

The readings are directed by Chris White, with dramaturgy by Neil Grutchfield.

The cast includes Oliver Bennett, Florence Roberts and Ricky Shah.

Tickets are available now via BOLD Theatre, with Pay What You Can pricing from £4–£20.
