Prisoners and Ex-prisoners

If you are a serving or ex-prisoner and are interested in getting involved with our free training courses  in acting, working through drama with young people, stage management or playwriting please get in touch with us at  and visit our News page for forthcoming opportunities. The sessions are led by professional theatre practitioners and focus on skills development and different ways of making theatre.  They are fun and new participants are always welcome.

Practitioners and Facilitators

Synergy has a team of highly skilled and experienced freelance artist practitioners that lead the creative projects and teach Synergy Studio courses in prison and beyond. Those who teach theatre-based courses have practical professional experience in their particular field, many continuing to work as writers, directors, film makers and performers.

Our projects for young people engage young offenders and young people at risk of offending through a combined offer of performances and workshops led by artist practitioners alongside trained ex-prisoner facilitators.

If you are interested in applying to become a practitioner at Synergy, please send your CV to marked for the attention of the Learning and Engagement Manager. Please indicate your specialism, experience and include a few words on why you are interested in working at Synergy.

We are always interested in hearing from practitioners who have experience of working with our cohort of young people. If you are applying to work on our young people’s programme, please invite the Learning and Engagement Manager to see your work in action at any public workshops or showcases you may have. A DBS check will be required for the position.
