Elmina's Kitchen
Elmina's Kitchen, Kwame Kwei-Armah's award winning drama set on Murder Mile, is an engaging portrait of a one-parent family struggling to stay within the law while the Yardies are carving up the neighbourhood.
The cast and crew included twelve prisoners from HMP Brixton, a large Category B prison which holds both convicted and remand prisoners.
The production was performed as part of Black History Month during October 2006 at HMP Brixton to prisoners and an invited public including the cast's families and friends.
"There are some experiences that are truly life-changing and last night was one of them for me. I can't remember seeing a more powerful, enthusiastic and real piece of theatre."
John Chittenden, Group Press Officer, Ambassador Theatre Group on 'Elmina's Kitchen'
