Dealer's Choice

Patrick Marber's award winning play, based around an evening's poker game involving a group of small time gamblers, explores male relationships, fatherhood, addiction and self-discipline.

This was Synergy's first production consisting of cast and crew of six prisoners from HMP Latchmere House and one ex-prisoner. Due to unforeseen circumstances there were various cast changes, one of which resulted in the assistant director having to learn one of the parts in 24 hours. This play was produced with no external funding but, as a result of its success, Synergy received funds to rent office space and produce two future productions.

The production was performed during May 2000 at HMP Latchmere House, Hillcroft College, Richmond College and The Orange Tree Theatre.

"The evening was a great success and the participants certainly did a very good job, having clearly worked hard in preparing for the performance."
