Synergy Theatre Project, Tartuffe

Tartuffe
The manipulative intrusion of a hypocrite causes uproar in a wealthy household in Moliere's classic comedy. Tartuffe is a humorous exploration of the dangers of self-delusion, deception and the struggle for power.
The cast and crew included twelve prisoners from HMP Latchmere House who shifted from the world of prison to 17th Century France by learning to speak in verse and donning wigs and tights. During the process, two of the cast were grounded for differing reasons, resulting in one being unable to perform the play outside of the prison although this did not hinder the success of the production.
The production was performed during October 2003 at HMP Latchmere House, Nescot College, Roehampton University and Barnes Old Sorting Office.
"It's been the most rewarding and inspirational experience of my life."
